Cross-party Brexit talks appeared close to collapse, after Labour’s chief negotiator warned that more than half of his bodog online casino party’s MPs would not back any deal unless it included a second “confirmatory” referendum.

Keir Starmer, shadow Brexit secretary, said that between 120 and 150 of 246 Labour MPs would oppose any deal that did not come with a second EU vote attached. The Bodog Poker proposal has been strongly criticised by Prime Minister Theresa May and would be opposed by many Tory MPs.
